Grading
Enamel pins are handmade and all come with some some imperfections. Please look at my grading standards below to judge what grade you would like to buy. Generally speaking, I am not a very strict grader.
Pins in each category are chosen at random. I cannot choose a specific pin for you because I don't have the time. Please understand the risks of purchasing a B-Grade or a Seconds pin, as I will not offer refunds if you are unhappy with the error.
The back of the pin is not considered when grading, with the exception of the pin posts.
A-GRADE - No Sticker
- Normal Pins: Few imperfections, nearly perfect. Looks good when seen in hand. May have very minimal overprinting and/or tiny specks in the enamel. May have a few air bubbles or marks in the stained glass area.
- 4.5"+ Pins: The best of the batch. Perfect or near-perfect face screenprint, looks good when seen in hand. May have specks of dust or texturing when tilted in direct light (not visible otherwise.)
B-GRADE - Red or Pink Dot
- Normal Pins: Some imperfections that are often visible when in hand. Not obvious from a distance. Things like scuffs, pricks, more obvious overprinting etc.
- 4.5"+ Pins: Small specks/flaws on face not visible from an arm's length; AND/OR no face flaws but 1-2 obvious other flaws (small miscoloring, small dents/dots elsewhere)
C-GRADE - Yellow Dot
- Normal Pins: Pins with obvious flaws. Miscolored or missing enamel, deep gouges on the face, most errors obvious from a distance.
- 4.5"+ Pins: Pins with visible face flaws (dots/lines) but not so obvious that it cannot be displayed. This categoryalso includes pins that have missing enamel bits or more obviously miscolored areas.
